Al-Adli is fuelled by people, not profit. We’re a grassroots legal collective - not a charity and definitely not the state. We don’t take money from institutions that profit from oppression. Community support keeps our work independent, accountable and radical.
We offer free legal education, support and advocacy to people facing violent systems - from protest policing and criminalisation to family court removals, housing injustice and state surveillance. We also stand with refugees, asylum seekers and undocumented people, and run a language exchange that pairs community volunteers with refugees for conversation practice, rights information and mutual support.
If you believe in a world without cages, family separation or state violence - help us build it.
Every pound you give helps us to:
Support people facing criminal charges or family court intervention, including practical casework and post-hearing care.
Defend migrants and refugees: know-your-rights, anti-raids skills, accompaniment to appointments, detention prevention where possible, and signposting to safe services.
Run workshops on legal rights, immigration & anti-raids, housing, benefits and organising - with tailored versions for youth, workplaces and faith spaces.
Publish accessible guides and toolkits - plain-language, high-contrast, translated where possible.
Resource the language exchange: safeguarding, volunteer training, travel stipends and materials for refugee-led learning.
Cover real costs: court/application fees, phone credit, printing, accessibility needs, emergency transport and interpretation.
We don’t hoard cash, build bureaucracy or pay executive salaries. Funds go to meaningful action, urgent support and long-haul organising.
Policing, border or surveillance bodies
Arms manufacturers or military-linked foundations
Organisations complicit in genocide, apartheid, displacement or incarceration
Top-down political parties seeking control over our work
Any funder who tries to water us down, co-opt our politics or make us “respectable”
If funding comes with strings attached - keep it. We answer to our people, not institutions.
