Community Organising Lead (North East Only)

Type: Voluntary  (expenses paid - opportunity for employed work soon).
Location: Must be North East–based  (opening other locations soon)
Time Commitment: ~2–4 hours/week, occasional in-person events

What the Role Involves

You’ll lead our regional organising efforts — linking legal education to direct action, protest defence, and grassroots community building. You’ll build and maintain relationships with local networks and coordinate Al Adli’s presence in the streets and on the ground.

Key Responsibilities

• Building relationships with mutual aid groups, mosques, unions, Gurdwaras, tenants’ orgs etc.
• Coordinating outreach and workshops in the North East
• Supporting defence work around protest, policing and surveillance
• Helping mobilise for campaigns and solidarity events
• Bringing legal education into activist and community spaces

• Decisiveness and initiative in fast-moving contexts

• Localised risk and safety planning
• Travel costs covered where possible
• Training in legal observation and protest safety
• Collective protocols for safety, consent and de-escalation
